It’s true what they say – you can tell a lot about a person by the shoes they wear, particularly in an F1 paddock. With thousands of people walking kilometres each day between the garages, hospitality units, and media centre, comfort is just as important as style. Here are some of Kym’s favourite pairs from the Begian Grand Prix weekend.
Inspired by the unmistakable design of the Porsche 911 Turbo, and featuring the iconic McLaughlin tartan pattern, these shoes screamed “Photograph me!” in the paddock.
It was hard to miss these Louis Vuitton LV sneakers. The design mimics retro, vintage basketball sneakers, but with an elegant, luxury-based aesthetic.
Comfortable trainers were a common sight around Spa, and it’s easy to understand why. The circuit is one of the biggest on the calendar, with plenty of hills to tackle throughout the weekend. These Ambitious golf shoes stood out thanks to their camel brown finish, fluorescent orange accents and bright green heel.
Fendi’s Match sneakers struck a nice balance between luxury and everyday wear. The stitched FF monogram, suede finish and chunky terry-cloth laces gave them plenty of character while still looking practical enough for a long day in the paddock.
It’s hard to look past these vibrant green and white Louis Vuitton LV sneakers. Like the earlier pair, they borrowed heavily from classic basketball sneakers but added subtle silver stud detailing that elevated the overall look.
These Nike Jordan sneakers were unlike anything else in the paddock. The beads on the laces give them a fun, playful vibe, while the pinstripe pattern and contrast of colours give them a certain edge.
Rounding out the list are these Blundstone 585 boots. As an Australian brand, they’re not something you see very often in the Formula 1 paddock, which made them all the more noticeable. Built with premium leather and a durable sole, they’re designed for tough conditions, so a weekend walking around Spa would have been no challenge at all.
