Racing Bulls continued their impressive rise at the Hungarian Grand Prix, leaving Budapest with another double points finish and taking over fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship.
After arriving in Hungary level on 61 points with Alpine, the team knew a strong weekend could see them seize the coveted “best of the rest” position. By Sunday evening, they had done exactly that.
The momentum has been building for Racing Bulls over the past few races, with the team’s latest upgrades continuing to deliver strong performance. After trialling the package on Arvid Lindblad’s car in Belgium, both he and Liam Lawson ran the updated specification in Hungary, and the results spoke for themselves.
Lawson’s weekend wasn’t without its challenges. The New Zealander was eliminated in Q2, leaving him with work to do on Sunday. However, he produced one of his strongest drives of the season, fighting through the midfield before becoming locked in a tense battle with Nico Hülkenberg during the closing stages of the race.
Despite relentless pressure from the Audi driver, Lawson held his nerve to claim eighth place and valuable championship points.
Lindblad also continued his remarkable rookie campaign. The young Brit crossed the line in 10th, securing his sixth consecutive points finish and once again demonstrating a maturity beyond his years.
While Racing Bulls celebrated another successful afternoon, their closest rivals endured the opposite. Alpine failed to score in Hungary, allowing Racing Bulls to pull clear in the battle for fifth in the Constructors’ standings.
It’s been one of the quiet success stories of the season. Once considered midfield outsiders, Racing Bulls have become one of the most consistent teams on the grid, with both drivers regularly featuring inside the top ten. If their current form continues after the summer break, they’ll be confident of holding onto fifth place for the remainder of the season.
