Red Bull has not yet decided the future of junior driver Nikola Tsolov, with the Bulgarian F2 driver currently leading the championship ahead of the final three rounds of the season.
Tsolov has been linked to a promotion to Racing Bulls in 2027, but strong performances by Liam Lawson and the development of Arvid Lindblad have made it difficult for Red Bull to move either driver on.
Isack Hadjar’s return to racing coincided with the announcement that he will stay at the team in 2027, locking both Red Bull seats for next year.
When asked about Tsolov’s plans for next year, Red Bull Team Principal Laurent Mekies said a decision is yet to be made.
“We are very, very happy with the progress he’s been making,” he said.
“Both on track and from what we see he’s doing with us in Milton Keynes at the simulator.
“What matters to us is that we make sure that we put him in the right environment so that all his potential is coming out.”
The Red Bull programme is notoriously savage with driver movements, but the departure of Christian Horner and Helmut Marko has seen that revolving door shut.
Racing Bulls currently lead the midfield battle, with nine points separating the team from closest rivals Alpine.
Lawson’s return to the team after a temporary loan to Red Bull is a welcome addition, and keeping the team’s two drivers focused on the team’s results could suggest why there is little urgency in pushing Tsolov into F1 immediately.
