This race offers one of the best chances to meet your favourite driver/F1 personality. Where? On the Melbourne Walk, a fenced path which most drivers traverse each day. It’s located near the main paddock entrance and if you’re there between 6 and 2 hours prior to the first F1 track session on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, there’s a good chance you’ll be rewarded.

If you want to stay with the team bosses and drivers, see if you can wrangle a room at the Crown Casino on the Yarra River. It’s on the track side of the city and offers plenty when it comes to food, drink and entertainment.

Melbourne City F1

Many choose to take the tram to the track as parking can be tricky if it’s not included in your package. Closer to the track and on the opposite side from the city is the cosmopolitan suburb of St Kilda. It’s home to a handful of hotels and a myriad of eateries.

Melbourne’s airport is about 30 minutes from the track and the city by car in light traffic.

Shopping in the city and suburbs is plentiful with Chappel Street, South Yarra hosting a plethora of boutiques while Chadstone Shopping Centre is one of the country’s biggest shopping malls.

The Australian GP normally runs more support events and on track activities than most grands prix so you will be spoiled for motoring entertainment over the 4 days of the event.
