The Montreal race takes place at the Circuit Gilles Villenueve, another street circuit just a short journey from the centre of the city.

Spectator-wise, the hairpin at turn 10 sees plenty of action and from the stands you get to see them coming and going although you’ll want to select a seat as far back in the stand as possible so the catch fencing doesn’t block your view.

This circuit is famous for the wall of champions at the exit of the final corner. It was so-named after Damon Hill, Michael Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve all collided with the wall in the 1999 race. Unfortunately, there is no spectating positions at that spot.

KYM'S TIP

Pick up a bicycle in town and ride to the track. It’s not too far and it’s great exercise.

The city itself is cosmopolitan for the most part but a walk though Old Montreal reveals a different side of the city. I’ve only been to one Canadian GP, in 2017 but the town was busy, vibrant and buzzing about the race. That year I stayed at the St Paul Hotel, 2 rooms away was Sebastian Vettel.

Montreal tickets will be scarce though as the pent up demand from no racing in 2020 and 2021 manifests this year.

Oh Canada, oh Canada, we love your GP!

ABOUT THE Canadian

GRAND PRIX CIRCUIT

The track winds its way through a wooded park. A good section of the track is not visible to the public and it is tricky for us to get to as we have to trek through some dense scrub and forrest.
