Aston Martin

About

Aston Martin’s history in Formula One is long and fragmented, spanning multiple eras of the sport. The team first appeared in the World Championship in 1959 but withdrew after just two seasons. More than six decades later, the iconic British brand made its return to Formula One in 2021, when Lawrence Stroll rebranded the Racing Point operation as Aston Martin, marking the manufacturer’s full-time comeback to the grid.

Since its return, Aston Martin has pursued an ambitious growth strategy, investing heavily in state-of-the-art facilities, technical personnel, and long-term infrastructure. The construction of a new factory and wind tunnel at Silverstone has underlined the team’s commitment to becoming a front-running force in Formula One.

The signing of two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso proved to be a pivotal moment for the team. Alonso’s experience, racecraft, and leadership delivered regular podium finishes and helped accelerate Aston Martin’s on-track progress. Alongside him, Lance Stroll continues to play a key role within the team, representing the ownership connection while contributing consistent performances.

Although Aston Martin has yet to secure a World Championship, its rapid development and clear ambition have established the team as a genuine podium contender. Off the track, the team has also made a strong impact, delivering one of the standout livery reveals at the 2025 Formula One launch event in London, featuring a memorable James Bond-inspired cameo from both drivers that captured global attention.

In 2025, Aston Martin welcomed legendary Formula One designer, Adrian Newey, as Team Principal.
