Lance is one of two Canadian drivers in F1, the other being Nicholas Latifi. Interestingly, both of those drivers have entered this sport due to backing from their families. In Lance’s case, his father Lawrence Stroll bankrolled him into Williams in 2017 at the age of 18. That year he notched his first podium with a 3rd place in Azerbaijan, the youngest rookie to do so.
In 2019 he moved to Racing Point alongside Sergio Perez and in 2020 had his best season, finishing 11th in the championship and snaring his first pole position at the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix.
When Racing Point switched to Aston Martin in 2021, Lance teamed up with Sebastian Vettel and finished 13th in the championship with a 6th in Qatar his best result. And he had his first hole in one in late 2021.
In 2023 Stroll partnered with Fernando Alonso in a drastically improved Aston Martin.
