About Sergio

Sergio Pérez has always been one of the most relaxed drivers in the paddock. The Mexican, nicknamed Checo, races for Red Bull Racing but has previously driven for Sauber, McLaren, Force India and Racing Point.
Sergio was a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy until 2012. He made his F1 debut driving for Sauber in 2011. He took his first F1 podium at the 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix with Sauber, joined McLaren for the 2013 season and moved to Force India in 2014. Midway through 2018 Racing Point became Aston Martin and Sergio signed a three-year contract.
In 2020, Sergio notched up his first F1 win in Bahrain, breaking the record for the number of starts before a race win; 190.
In 2021 he moved to Red Bull. He won his second F1 race at the Azerbaijan GP and played a pivotal role in Max Verstappen’s remarkable win at the Abu Dhabi GP resulting in Max winning the WDC.
Checo is pretty much a national hero in Mexico.
