Red Bull Racing entered Formula One in 2005 after taking over the Jaguar Racing operation. The team quickly established itself as a front-running force under long-time Team Principal Christian Horner, enjoying a period of sustained success with Sebastian Vettel. Between 2010 and 2013, Red Bull secured four consecutive Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships, cementing its place among the sport’s elite teams.
The team returned to dominance in the modern era with Max Verstappen at the wheel. From 2021 through to 2024, Verstappen delivered multiple Drivers’ Championships, marking another golden chapter for Red Bull in the hybrid era.
In 2022, the FIA confirmed that Red Bull had breached the 2021 Financial Regulations, identifying both a procedural breach and a minor financial overspend of less than five percent of the cost cap. The ruling found the team in breach of 13 compliance points, resulting in a seven-million-dollar fine and a ten percent reduction in permitted aerodynamic research.
Significant changes followed in 2024. During the Miami Grand Prix weekend, Red Bull announced that Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey would be leaving the team after 19 years. Despite having a contract in place, Sergio Pérez also departed following a mutual termination agreement.
Red Bull initially confirmed Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson as its driver pairing for 2025. However, after just two races, Lawson was moved back to Racing Bulls, with Yuki Tsunoda promoted to the senior team.
A sharp dip in performance midway through the 2025 season led to major leadership changes. Following the British Grand Prix, Christian Horner was dismissed, and on July 9, Laurent Mekies was appointed as both CEO and Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, stepping up from his role at Racing Bulls.
In late 2025, it was announced that Isack Hadjar would join Max Verstappen at Red Bull for the 2026 season, demoting Yuki Tsunoda to reserve driver.
