Current Formula 1 World Champion Lando Norris has extended his contract with McLaren until at least 2030, with an option to extend.
The announcement comes after the British driver convincingly won the Dutch GP, with McLaren’s improved performance giving him the tools to mount a title defence.
Norris joined the McLaren Young Driver Programme in 2017 and made his F1 debut with the team in 2019.
Together they have won back-to-back Constructors’ Championships in 2024 and 2025, and their first World Drivers’ Championship since 2008.
He said he has achieved the goals he set when he joined the team nine years ago but is looking to continue building on the success.
“We want to keep on winning, and we know as a team that we’re capable of achieving it,” he said.
“I’m very excited about what the future holds for us.”
McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella praised Norris’ talent and professionalism, and said the extension ensures continuity with the team’s direction.
“With him and Oscar, we know we can count not only on one of the strongest partnerships but also on one of the most united and close-knit teams in Formula 1,” he said.
Norris’ extension commits four key personnel to McLaren for the next few years – Oscar Piastri extended his contract in March last year, and Andrea Stella and CEO Zak Brown have signed new contracts within the past two years.
Norris will look to continue his winning form on Sunday as F1 heads to Monza for the 2026 Italian Grand Prix.
