Red Bull has confirmed Isack Hadjar will miss the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix at the Madring as he recovers from a fractured wrist.
Liam Lawson will continue with his role at Red Bull, surpassing the number of race weekends he competed as a full-time Red Bull driver last year.
“Isack’s recovery continues to progress positively,” Red Bull said in a statement.
“While he is not ready to return to the cockpit, he will be in Madrid supporting the team.”
Yuki Tsunoda remains at VCARB after picking up his first point of the year in Monza; however, an appeal by Audi looms over his final classification.
The Stewards cleared the Japanese driver of any starting infraction after the Race Director ordered a second formation lap because Tsunoda failed to successfully correct his grid position when he mistakingly approached the wrong grid box.
Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto would benefit from any penalty, finishing behind in P11.
Should Tsunoda’s result stand, the Japanese driver will remain 20th in the Drivers’ Championship despite competing in only two Grands Prix.
However, he could compete in four should Isack Hadjar be rested for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on September 26, but the team will not announce any decisions on that until they need to.
Red Bull has previous experience with managing a driver’s return from a wrist injury, with Daniel Ricciardo suffering a break driving for AlphaTauri in a practice session at the Dutch Grand Prix in 2023.
He was sidelined for the next four Grands Prix, finally returning in Austin for the USGP in late October – a recovery time of eight weeks.
The extent of Hadjar’s injury is only known to those within his camp, but Red Bull is clearly focused on his recovery rather than rushing him back behind the wheel.
