Bahrain Grand Prix

The 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix will be unlike any other race on this seasons Formula 1 calendar.

For the first time in Formula 1 history, Bahrain’s race will be held at Malaysia’s iconic Sepang International Circuit. The announcement follows an agreement between Formula 1, the FIA, and the governments of Bahrain and Malaysia. While the venue has changed, the event will retain its official Bahrain Grand Prix title, creating one of the most unique weekends the sport has ever seen.

It’s also a welcome return for Formula 1 fans in Southeast Asia. Sepang last hosted a Grand Prix in 2017, and after almost a decade away, one of the sport’s most popular circuits is back on the calendar.

Since making its Formula 1 debut in 1999, Sepang has built a reputation as one of the championship’s best all-round circuits. Its wide layout encourages overtaking, while the combination of long straights, high-speed corners, and technical sections challenges both drivers and engineers. Add Malaysia’s famous tropical weather, with soaring temperatures, high humidity, and the ever-present chance of a torrential downpour, and there’s rarely a predictable race at Sepang.

Many of today’s drivers have never raced a Formula 1 car at Sepang, adding another layer of intrigue to what is already an unusual event. For returning fans, it’ll be a nostalgic trip back to one of Formula 1’s classic venues. For newer fans, it’s an opportunity to experience a circuit that’s produced countless memorable races over the years.
