About Liam
Liam Lawson started karting at the age of 7 and quickly established himself as a rising star in New Zealand motorsport. By the time he moved to single-seaters, he had already won multiple karting championships across Australasia.
In 2019, he finished 2nd in the Toyota Racing Series and then graduated to Formula 3, finishing 5th in the 2020 season with two race wins. He continued his upward trajectory in 2021 by moving to Formula 2, where he claimed two victories in his rookie year.
In 2023, Liam made his Formula 1 debut with AlphaTauri, stepping in for Daniel Ricciardo at the Dutch Grand Prix after Daniel broke his hand during a practice session. Liam impressed with a solid performance on short notice.
Later that year, after the Singapore GP, Liam secured a permanent seat with the VCARB team following the announcement of Ricciardo's departure.
Liam has been confirmed as Sergio Perez’s replacement at Red Bull from 2025.
After just 2 races in 2025 Liam Lawson was swapped to Red Bull's sister team VCARB in place of Yuki Tsunoda.
