About Daniel

Daniel Ricciardo was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia to Italian parents. He is arguably the most colourful of the 20 drivers with an ability to make everyone smile.
Daniel started karting at the age of 9 for fun and despite being enthusiastic about tennis and soccer he managed to convince his parents to buy him a go kart.
At the age of 15 he tested for Formula Ford and in 2006, competed in the Formula BMW series in Asia. Following the world titles in Valencia, Spain his parents, along with a handful of their Perth mates, chipped in to get Daniel a drive in Formula Renault.
At the end of 2007 Red Bull picked him up and in 2011 bought him a seat in one of the HRT F1 cars for the last half of the season.
Daniel drove for Toro Rosso in 2012 and 2013 before joining Red Bull for 5 seasons in 2014. His first win was at the 2014 Canadian Grand Prix and over the 5 years he notched up a total of 7 wins.
His 2 years at Renault (2018 and 2019) were disappointing and in 2021 the “honey badger” moved to McLaren scoring a win at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Italy.
