About Zhou

There has never been a Chinese driver in F1, that was until Zhou Guanyu came along and grabbed a drive with Alfa Romeo for season 2022.
Born in May of 1999, Guanyu has a rich history in motorsport starting in karts at the age of 8 and moving from Shanghai to Sheffield in the UK in 2012 to race. He’s driven Italian F4, Formula 3 from 2016-2018 and F2 from 2019 to 2021 before stepping up to the big show in 2022.
He’s one of the lightest drivers this year weighing in at just 63 kilograms and stands 173cm tall. He brings a whack of sponsorship dollars to Alfa Romeo which no doubt helped secure his seat. He is the only rookie in the 2022 field and will be keen to give his supporters back home in China something to cheer about this year.
Zhou finished his first F1 season in 18th place in the driver’s championship.
